Intro & Background

Christopher Bertiaux, MA, LPC-A, LAC-A, NCC is a licensed counselor and founder of Lowcountry Recovery Counseling. Chris turned to EVRYDAY for his company's branding and website needs.

Lowcountry Recovery Counseling is a private counseling practice that treats addiction, substance misuse, depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Chris wanted new branding for his practice and an updated design for his website. It was important that the site updates aligned with the new brand and that the layout was easier to navigate.

An Opportunity for a New Look and Feel

Like many other small businesses, Chris was juggling all of the responsibilities of running his practice. He was trying to balance client management, creating and maintaining his website, and building his brand. He was resourceful enough to get things up and running, but felt his branding and presentation could use a refresh.

Chris also questioned if he should stick with his website host or build his site on a new service. He was unsure if his vision was achievable through existing tools, but had limited insights as he didn't have a lot of experience building websites. He turned to EVRYDAY for expertise and guidance to execute a brand refresh followed by a new website design to match.

“In starting a new private counseling practice, one of the biggest challenges I face as a counselor is not only developing the necessary clinical pieces (EMR, documentation, testing instruments, etc.), but also developing the financial pieces, building a client base, and marketing pieces. With no experience in branding, marketing, or design experience, EVRYDAY provided an incredible solution offering with personally tailored and high quality deliverables to these necessary components, with tangible options for expanding the services into other areas,” stated Chris.

Ultimately, Chris knew he didn’t have time to dedicate to his practice’s marketing efforts, so he then sought help from EVRYDAY. I started EVRYDAY to offer businesses strategic marketing services. My skills and expertise stem from my background as a corporate marketer. Most recently I served as the Director of Marketing and Communications at an AI tech startup. During my time in this role, I was recognized for my award-winning work and contributions to the City of New Orleans' Orleans Parish Communication District (OPCD) and NOLA-311 Public Engagement Team.

How EVRYDAY Responded

We scheduled our first discovery call, where I began by asking Chris about his goals and vision for Lowcountry Recovery Counseling. He also taught me about his service offerings, general industry knowledge, and shared insights about his target audience. Then, I created a scope of work for this project that aligned with his marketing goals, needs, and budget.

We established our timelines and deliverables—getting things thoroughly planned out and crystal clear before even starting on the actual work. Creating a scope of work ensured several things: (1) the project stayed within budget; (2) that we understood our responsibilities; and (3) both parties knew what to expect over the two month project.

“From our very first call, Alex was invested in getting to know Lowcountry Recovery Counseling, its mission, and its goals and values. She offered transparent and robust plans to meet the personally identified needs of my practice that were timely and within budget,” said Chris.

The Results

By breaking down the project into three distinct phases, EVRYDAY was able to deliver:

Brand refresh: Updated logos, icons, color palette and brand guidelines
Print materials: Branded designs for business cards, a post card, and rack card
Website redesign: Incorporating new brand elements to the LRC website, as well as  simplifying and updating the site copy and layout to simplify services, pricing, resources and other information

The brand refresh gives Lowcountry Recovery Counseling an elevated look and feel, without straying far from Chris’ original branding and vision. After Chris approved the new look, I documented all of the brand guidelines. This made the final project phases easier to deliver and ensured brand cohesiveness across all touch points.

During initial planning, Chris and I worked together to create a list of specific print materials and deliverables he would receive. Once all of the designs were drafted, they were presented to Chris for his final approval.

Then I was able to incorporate images from the print materials into the website redesign for cohesiveness. Before starting the final phase of this project, Chris and I had a check-in call to identify all of the site updates that needed to be done. This allowed us to spend time making sure I fully understood the vision and confirmed that everything he was looking for could be completed on time.

Chris continued, “I highly recommend EVRYDAY to any business looking for a partnership with a professional who values your individual needs, and is highly transparent, organized and effective with high-quality, tangible results.”
